Digital Skills for the Future Summit

The Digital Skills for the Future Summit is convened by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) to establish a shared national position on digital skills delivery in South African schools. Grounded in the CAPS curriculum, the Summit positions Computational Thinking and Design Thinking as the foundational enablers of genuine digital competence ensuring every learner exits the system able to reason, design, create and problem-solve in digital environments.

South Africa’s digital future will not be secured by giving learners access to technology alone. It will be secured by ensuring every learner regardless of quintile or province exits the system as a capable, adaptive contributor to the 4IR economy and society.
