Board of Trustees

The NECT is a registered trust and formal responsibility for good governance of the organisation vests in members of its Board of Trustees, listed below.

Sizwe Nxasana (Chairperson)

Founder of the Future Nation Schools chain, Sizwe Nxasana is the former Chairperson of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and former CEO of FirstRand Bank Ltd and FirstRand Holdings.

A chartered accountant by profession, Mr Nxasana returned to familiar banking turf after a detour into telecommunications as CEO of Telkom from 1998 to 2005. Prior to joining FirstRand, he was involved in banking at board level in a range of financial institutions.

In 1989, Mr Nxasana founded the accounting firm, Sizwe & Co, and later joined forces to form Nkonki Sizwe Ntsaluba, South Africa’s foremost black accountancy practice, where he remained a partner until joining Telkom.
