Resources for teachers

The materials herein seek to establish basic, common teaching routines in every classroom and are aimed at building the curriculum management and delivery capacity of teachers in Mathematics, Science and Languages to increase the quantity and quality of teaching and learning taking place in the classroom.

The NECT’s teacher development strategy, Learning Programmes, is the largest element of teacher professionalisation in the District Improvement Programme (DIP) and aims to enhance teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge, curriculum coverage, assessment and reflective practices to improve learner performance.

This is done through a standardised, routinised year-long programme which entails quarterly training, resource inputs such as teacher support toolkits and in-school support. Through the Learning Programmes Subject Advisors receive training from the NECT, who then train teachers.
