The National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT) was established in terms of the Education Collaboration Framework (ECF) developed during the first half of 2013 and launched by the Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe in July 2013. The NECT was founded as a response to the National Development Plan’s call for stakeholders to work together to improve educational outcomes in South Africa. It is a partnership initiative involving government, business, labour and civil society.
The NECT seeks to employ an experienced, innovative, highly skilled and passionate individual in the position of Senior Education Specialist. The position will be based in Centurion, South Africa for a fixed term of 3 years.
Under the guidance and supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the specialist will work with a range of stakeholders, education officials and service providers to design, oversee and report on the implementation of the various district and school improvement programmes supported by the NECT. The incumbent will lead the planning and project management portfolio in the NECT’s management team, including the following functions, amongst others: negotiate and manage contracts; represent the NECT to partners, funders and beneficiaries; manage staff at various levels; manage data gathering and reporting; and be willing to work within a dynamic and demanding environment.
A post-graduate degree in education, development studies or a related discipline
Eight years professional work experience at a national or international level in education or development programmes
Advanced technical knowledge of the theories, principles and methods of school/district improvement and education transformation
Sound understanding of national curriculum policies and related education frameworks in South Africa
High-level project management, planning and negotiation skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Advanced computer and data analysis skills
Advanced writing, communication and presentation skills
Research and report writing skills
