The National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT) is supporting the Department of Basic Education and Department of Health in conducting health screening in schools.
Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Mduduzi Manana, presents progress on the implementation of Education Collaboration Framework, which highlighted work being done by the National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT).
"The most crucial focus of educational reform has been aptly outlined by the National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT): improve resourcing, focus on learner welfare, call for courage in leadership, drum up citizen participation in education, and professionalise teaching"
In an attempt to improve language teaching in schools, the NECT and Jika Imfundo are conducting language workshops in uThungulu district schools to empower teachers.
"We have established some tough goals - we want to support government to reduce the number of poorly performing schools from 37% to less than 10%, and to increase the percentage of medium-performing schools from 43% to 60% within 10 years..."
In a bid to improve matric results in the Libode district in the Eastern Cape, the NECT English first additional language specialist visited the grade 12 class of Mabalengwe Senior Secondary School to sharpen their language skills.
